Hello, my name is Kevin Light. I am a counsellor who has been helping people for over 10 years, working both in person and online.
Imposter syndrome is a psychological condition where people feel unworthy of their achievements or fear being exposed as a fraud, despite evident success. It is a persistent internalised negative self image that can cripple self-confidence and prevent people from reaching their full potential. The feelings of inadequacy associated with imposter syndrome are particularly common among high achievers, who often attribute their accomplishments to luck or external factors rather than their own abilities.
Imposter syndrome creates a damaging cycle of self-doubt, perfectionism, and fear of failure. People struggling with this condition often set impossibly high standards for themselves and feel anxious when they cannot meet them. This can lead to burnout, mental exhaustion, and an overwhelming sense of inadequacy.
Our imposter syndrome therapy sessions provide specialised support to help individuals overcome these limiting beliefs. We understand that imposter syndrome is deeply rooted in cognitive patterns and emotions that often stem from early life experiences, societal pressures, or negative self-perceptions. Our approach focuses on identifying these patterns, challenging them, and develping healthier thought processes.
